waterloo pines

For some time, I have been photographing Scots Pines at Norfolk Wildlife Trust  Wretham Heath site, some of which were thought to have been planted in the early nineteenth century at the time of the Battle of Waterloo. Their fallen, gnarled, and twisted branches have lost foliage, colour as well as their youth but are still here making the world a more interesting and a more unconventionally beautiful place.

This project represents a personal observation of fallen Scots Pine branches in a way that captures the nature and energy of the trees demonstrating aspects of my photography in which I find inspiration, reminding me that we are not only viewing a part of history but also, witnessing the natural changes during the process of decay.

I do sincerely hope that you find these images engaging and you enjoy these interpretations of “chaos in nature.”
