Woodland Thresholds

At the base of a towering tree, where roots emerge like ancient fingers from the woodland floor, lies a space both humble and sacred. This is the tree’s threshold, the point where wood and earth embrace—a meeting place of strength and nourishment, where time itself seems to settle.

The ground here is a mosaic of tangled roots, softened by fallen leaves and the slow crumble of bark. Moss clings to the rough skin of the trunk’s base, a vibrant green whisper of life. Fungi, like tiny architects of decay, spiral up from the damp earth, weaving themselves into the unseen web of the forest’s breath.

It is a place of transition, where roots stretch downward in a silent hunger for the unseen rivers beneath, while the trunk ascends toward the sky, chasing the sun’s fleeting golden touch. Here, in this small, sacred space, the great story of the forest begins—written in soil, shadow, and light and now captured in camera.
