Visualising the Light

“Photography” is defined as the art or process of producing images by the action of capturing light on a sensitive surface such as film or an optical sensor. However since the introduction of digital photography for me the use of film is now a distant memory but the method of capturing the light remains the same using a camera in order to trap the available light and from it, using any number of processes, produce a photograph.
Lately, as my photographic journey continues, I have moved away from looking to capture the technically perfect image and have begun to try to create what I describe as “expressive photographs” by visualising what the final image will look like before I even press the shutter. This requires more than just technical skills, but also an understanding of what art is, what it means to be an artist and how to translate those thoughts, feelings and experiences into a visual creation that is unique to me.
This is very much work in progress but I’m keen to develop this further and importantly I’m still enjoying the journey…….
