Explore Wretham Heath
Just under ten miles from home and deep in the heart of Breckland is the very beautiful Norfolk Wildlife Trust site of Wretham Heath. Formerly a World War 2 RAF base, Wretham Heath saw active service throughout the conflict and returned to the custody of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust shorty after the conclusion of hostilities.
It really is a superb place to walk and explore and offers a variety of types of landscapes from pine and broadleaf woodland to the wide expanses heathland typical of Breckland. There are three meres on the site although at the time of our visit only one has water.
